Clinical Study Results

Study A

Silymarin CF is demonstrated to provide greater protection than untreated skin at two exposure intensities of UV:

• 68% protection from intensive UV exposure 
• 79% protection from daily UV exposure

Protocol: 10 subjects received an application of Silymarin CF on the back for four consecutive days followed by UV-irradiation with one exposure of 3x MED or three consecutive daily exposures of 1x MED. Measurements of erythema and photography were taken 24 hours after the final exposure.

Study B

Lipid peroxides are the chemical product of oil oxidation—they damage cell membranes and induce inflammation, and can contribute to blemish formation. Silymarin CF was evaluated in-vivo for its ability to protect human sebum against oxidation after four weeks of use, and was shown to be effective at reducing lipid peroxides by up to 76%.
